LOOK FOR US, WE’RE IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD

Chances are Family Chimney Sweep worked for one of your friends. Or neighbors. Or ex-girlfriends.

That’s right, Family Chimney Sweep has been cleaning fireplaces and chimneys for over 20 years, and that means that at one time we helped a family that you care about stay safe over the winter by making sure nothing was clogged in the flue.

If you see us in your neighborhood, wave us down and say hello. We’d love to chat with you about your fireplace and chimney needs.

We’ll be working extra hard this season to make sure everyone gets exactly what they pay for. Too many companies are ripping people off, and we want to make sure our customers know that we’d never do that to them. Their continued support is worth more to us than a quick buck.

THERE’S SMOKE IN MY HOUSE!

There are a few common reasons why smoke fills the room after starting a fire.

It could be that the damper is not fully open, and not all the smoke is able to go up the chimney.

The wood could be unseasoned or wet and not able to create enough heat to make the smoke rise properly up the chimney.

The walls of the chimney could be cold, again keeping the smoke from rising properly.

To solve these problems, always make sure beforehand that the damper is open all the way.

And make sure to use the proper wood as well.

And to warm up the walls of the chimney, simply light a piece of newspaper and put it up to the damper, which pushes heat into the chimney and creates a proper draft.

Enjoy!

PLEASE BE SAFE

Lots of people use their fireplaces, but many of them never think about safety when doing so.

It is important to stay up-to-date on chimney and fireplace cleaning, to keep your family safe from fires.

You should also keep a fire extinguisher handy in case something bad happens, and make sure to keep the screen on when flames are present which isn’t as visually appealing but could keep your stuff from catching fire.

Lastly, keep children and pets away from the flames to ensure their safety. The last thing you want is a burned child.

Safety should always be on your mind when lighting a fire. Don’t be drunk, and don’t let drunk people near the flames.

Enjoy the approaching holiday season without being in fear of a fire! Call us today to service your chimney and fireplace!

REMEMBER…

Remember that over the Summer, lots of debris like leaves, branches and dead animals had the opportunity to get down your chimney and block your flue.

We want you to feel safe and comfortable in your home this Winter, and if you call us to service your fireplace and chimney needs we promise to give you the best service possible and not rip you off like some other companies by selling your products you don’t need.
